Spell & Rune Damage Changes

What changed

We removed the extra damage bonus that scaled with base skill and base magic level.

This means the extra tiered percentage bonus on top of the normal spell and rune damage formula has been removed.

What stays the same

  • Whether you can cast a spell or rune
  • Level requirements, mana costs, cooldowns, and other requirements

What players may notice

  • Some spells and runes can deal less damage than before — this is expected, not a bug
  • To compensate, monsters now take 50% more damage
  • Some players may feel stronger, others slightly weaker — depending on their skills

Why this change was made

We have been experiencing a lot of lag, and we want to test if the extra skill-based damage formula was one of the causes.

Removing this formula means less work every time damage is calculated, which should help us test server load more clearly.

  • If lag reduces: we likely found the cause
  • If lag stays the same: this change will be reverted
